Heritage Terrace & Exterior Cleaning in Paddington, NSW

Paddington is the most delicate work we do. The terraces here are Victorian, largely within heritage conservation areas, and built from materials that modern cleaning equipment will destroy in seconds — soft lime mortar, original face brick, sandstone sills and thresholds, cast-iron lacework and decades of layered paint.

Why high pressure is the wrong tool here

On a 140-year-old terrace, a pressure wand blows lime mortar straight out of the joints, strips paint from render, erodes sandstone sills and drives water into the wall cavity of a building that has no modern damp coursing. We’ve seen jobs where a cheap clean created a damp problem that cost more to remedy than the entire facade was worth.

Everything on a Paddington frontage is soft-washed: low pressure, appropriate chemistry, dwell time, gentle rinse. Iron lacework and balustrades are cleaned by hand.

What we typically clean

Terrace facades and parapets, front steps and tiled entry paths (including original tessellated tiles, which need particular care), cast-iron balconies and lacework, rear courtyards, and the shared rear laneways where bins, service access and general grime accumulate.

Access is the other challenge

Narrow one-way streets, no off-street parking, shared party walls and courtyards you can only reach through the house. We work from compact setups, carry water where there’s no tap access, protect internal floors when we have to pass through, and coordinate with neighbours on shared walls.
