Why graffiti removal is surface work, not pressure work

Blasting paint with high pressure is the classic mistake — it drives pigment deeper into porous surfaces and etches a permanent shadow of the tag into the wall, along with a clean patch that stands out as obviously as the graffiti did. Proper graffiti removal starts with identifying two things: the substrate and the paint. A solvent that lifts spray enamel off Colorbond will damage painted render; the poultice that draws paint out of sandstone is wasted on glass. We match the chemistry to the pairing, test a small area, then remove at a pressure the surface can carry.

For heritage sandstone through Paddington and Woollahra we use the same poultice-based, stone-safe methods as our sandstone cleaning and restoration work — the paint is drawn out rather than abraded off the face of the stone.

Shopfronts, rear lanes and strata walls in Bondi Junction, Randwick and along the beach commercial strips tend to be hit repeatedly — the same properties we service for commercial and strata pressure cleaning. For those walls we offer two things: a standing rapid-response arrangement so tags are gone within days (fast removal is the single best deterrent — taggers want dwell time), and an anti-graffiti protective coating. A coated wall releases the next tag with hot water alone, which turns an expensive recurring problem into a cheap one.
