Randwick is a different job to the beachfront suburbs. It sits far enough back from the coast that salt is a secondary concern, but it has something the coastal streets don’t: a heavy, mature tree canopy. That canopy is the main driver of everything we clean here.

Much of Randwick is Federation and interwar housing — face brick, rendered detailing, tiled verandahs, terracotta roofs and timber fretwork. Original terracotta roof tiles here are frequently thick with lichen, and they need a treated, low-pressure approach; aged terracotta cracks readily and lichen anchored into the tile surface simply regrows if it’s blasted rather than killed.
