Sandstone is the priority

Sandstone cannot be cleaned with force. High pressure erodes the face, leaves permanent wand striping, and opens the pores so the stone stains faster afterwards than it did before. On a heritage wall or an original set of steps, that’s not a cosmetic issue — it’s damage a stonemason has to grind out.

We work chemistry-first: identify the stone, treat the staining, let the solution do the work, then lift residue at a pressure the stone will carry. Then we seal, with a breathable impregnating sealer that repels salt and water without trapping moisture inside the stone.

Harbourfront exposure

Vaucluse properties face north and east across the harbour and open water, so they carry both salt and full weather exposure. Rendered facades, glass balustrades, stainless fittings and aluminium frames all need salt taken off them regularly. Pool surrounds get a double load — salt from the air and chlorine or salt-water splash-out from the pool itself, which is why coping stone here deteriorates faster than paving ten metres away.
