The plane trees, figs and paperbarks along the older streets drop heavily and drop something worse than leaf — plane tree seed balls break down into a fibrous mat that packs into the base of a gutter and holds water like a sponge. On the Federation and interwar homes that dominate the area, gutters are often original profile, narrower than modern ones, and hidden behind decorative fascia where nobody sees the overflow until it’s staining the brickwork below.

Full clear-out by hand and vacuum rather than a blower, valleys cleared properly because that’s where a tiled Federation roof actually fails, downpipes checked for flow and cleared where blocked, and the decomposed silt layer at the base removed rather than left as a seedbed for next season. Everything bagged and taken off site.

We photograph rust, split seams, sagging brackets and any overflow staining we find, and send it through. We don’t do guttering repairs — the report is just what we saw, so you can get it priced by someone who does.

Timing

One clean a year doesn’t cut it under mature deciduous street trees. Late autumn after the drop, and again before the summer storms, is the honest recommendation for most Randwick properties. If your block is clear of big trees we’ll tell you that annually is fine.
