Gutter Cleaning Hills District | Bushfire Prep and Tank Water Safe
Gutter cleaning in the Hills is not a cosmetic job. Most of the district sits on the bush interface, and a gutter packed with dry eucalypt leaf is the single most common ignition point on a house during ember attack. The NSW RFS lists clearing gutters as a standard part of preparing a property, and it is the part most people leave until the smoke is already visible.
Bushfire season timing
Clear before the season, not during it. Eucalypts drop leaf and bark through spring, so a gutter cleaned in July is often full again by October. On bush-boundary properties two clears a year is realistic, with the second one landing before the fire danger period rather than after it starts.
Tank water needs care
A lot of Hills properties run rainwater tanks off the roof, and that changes how the job is done. Debris cannot simply be flushed down the downpipe into the tank, and cleaning products cannot be allowed to enter the system. We isolate or divert before we start, clear the gutters and leaf diverters by hand, and flush only once the tank is out of the line. If nobody has asked you about your tanks before quoting, that is worth noticing.
