Sandstone & Stone Care

Sandstone Cleaning and Sealing Sydney: Heritage Walls, Steps and Paving Restored

Q: Why does sandstone go black?

Pollution, soot and biological growth bind into the porous surface. It is not the stone itself discolouring.

Q: Can the rust stains be removed?

Rust from iron inclusions responds to reducing poultices. Deep staining lightens but may not disappear completely.

Q: Do you work in Heritage Conservation Areas?

Yes, regularly in Woollahra, Hunters Hill, Balmain and Paddington. Cleaning does not usually require approval, but we document our method for owners.

Q: Should I seal sandstone?

Paving and steps around pools benefit from a breathable sealer. Walls and heritage features are usually left to breathe.

Q: What does sandstone cleaning cost?

Every quote is fixed and tailored to the property. We measure the surfaces, confirm the method and send a written price within one business day; call 0494 810 609 or use the quote form and we will come back to you with a figure.

Sydney sandstone is soft, porous and irreplaceable. We clean it with biocides, dwell time and soft brushing at low pressure, which removes the black crust and green growth while leaving the tool marks and patina that give the stone its character.

Google review · Sandstone Cleaning

I recently had my brick pavers cleaned by Prestige Standard and I couldn't be happier with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and paid great attention to detail. My pavers went from looking dull and stained to fresh and almost brand new again.
